Observation details
Continuing bird found by Bob Steele on the Christmas Bird Count last Saturday, 17 Dec. For the first half an hour we thought we would be skunked, but eventually it dropped down to the grass to feed on the lawn between the covered picnic area and the senior citizen center. A female-plumage Painted Bunting with extensive greenish coloration to the upper parts, including the upper tail covers. The center of the back was especially green. Below was more of a soft yellowish color. Thick dark bill with large black beady eye.
