Observation details
Lifer! AWESOME birds. Paul and Paco saw two fly across the road and we set ourselves up to see the others we could hear calling on the other side of the road, hoping they would cross as well. Sure enough we saw two run/fly across the road and dive into the thick acacia brush. There was still another calling on the other side of the road and they called back and forth for a bit - a harsh explosive “qwuark!!” call as well as some quieter contact squeaks. I could hear one calling fairly close on the side they flushed to, so I bent down and saw a little movement. By lying on the ground I could actually get a good view into the underbrush and I managed to get good views of a male, with a wispy rufous crest, gray head and upper breast, black eye and bill, and white/rufous spotted flanks. What a great lifer. Only saw it for a minute and when we tried to get the scope set up it walked back down the limb it was sitting on and disappeared.
