Observation details
Buffy wash to flanks and upper breast. Fine streaking on breast. Buffy malar and subtle buffy eye ring. Smaller than nearby SOSP. Three birds foraging in loose association. This call came from the foraging Lincoln Sparrows. It’s a high-pitched buzzy call at 7-11k. It has a rough U shape to it. It looks very thick on the graph, meaning it covers a span of frequency (which is what makes it “buzzy”). Notably… There are clear overtones for this starting at 14k and 21k. That 21k overtone would extend well above human hearing… Just makes me wonder how these birds hear the world if they’re hearing frequencies at 25k+…
