Observation details
Ongoing bird. Long-legged wader with very long, straight, dark bill, slightly bulbous towards tip; bill thicker than that of godwits. Upperparts dark brown with broad pale edges to feathers, giving a somewhat mottled appearance. Noticeably smaller than Bar-tailed Godwits with which it associated. Was not present when we arrived but arrived with flock of BT Godwits around 15:00 on the rising tide, more than 3 hours prior to high tide. Fed rather frantically in knee-high water for about an hour, preened and went to sleep. Photos to follow.
