Observation details
Odd looking individual swimming with 1 alternate drake Mallard and 1 female Mallard. Similar to alternate drake MALL but for several features: Tan cheek, throat, and sides of neck variably speckled with green and black. Buffy supercilium specked with green and black above the eye Uneven green patch on auriculars plus black loral stripe between supercilium and cheek. Green on crown and nape was dull, not irridescent like its pure drake companion. Breast was a warm brown, not the dark chocolate brown of its pure drake companion. Sides showed some faint brown smudging not the monochromatic cool gray of its pure drake companion. Lacked a crisp, narrow white collar on neck - in a few angles a faint whitish collar was present, in others none. Scapulars on wing panel were faintly more brownish in hue compared to the cool gray of its pure drake companion. A hybrid drake Mallard, but with what other species? Mexican Duck?
