Observation details
A bird with bright yellow on it caught my eye while I was chatting on the phone. When I realized it was a Chat and not a Common Yellowthroat, I ended the phone call to send out an alert. The Chat was quite active and was seen foraging low on the ground, as well as plucking berries high up in trees. The views were stunning when the light from the late afternoon sun would illuminate its yellow breast! Barrie and Ellen showed up, and Barrie was able to get a few photos. I then left for ten minutes to run home and get my camera. When I returned the bird was not being seen, but it eventually reappeared in the same area. Hopefully it will stick around for the CBC on Sunday (or at least till the beginning of Count Week, which starts in two days) since there is a good source of food at this location. Songbird with olive/brown above, bright yellow throat and breast, bold white spectacles, black lores and bill, white abdomen, long tail. Photos taken in fading light.
