Observation details
Continuing rarity found by ear by Caleb Centanni and Courtney Kelly-Jett, the winter wren whisperers of Oregon. Located on east side of Skinner’s Butte behind (west of) Campbell House Inn between lower (east of and below main road to top) trail and white gazebo in ivy on nearly horizontal downed log and nearby brush/ivy. Single and then couplet chirp notes heard clearly. Vocalization is off for Pacific wren. Visuals appear lighter on the breast with a bold supercilium. Additional white spotting on the wings / flanks not noted. Photos and recording obtained. State bird (after not counting last year’s in Benton due to poor observation).
