Observation details
Just when I thought the Wilson's Warbler was going to be the highlight of my day, this thing popped up! First heard singing in alders along the lake edge at the east end shortly before 0700h. The bird proved to be very elusive, and it was several minutes before I got a couple of quick glances, at which point it went quiet and disappeared. After what will go down as the 20 most intense minutes of my life, it finally showed itself and I was able to get some photos. Over the course of the morning it moved around the edges of the east end quite a bit, and would disappear for long periods of time. At one point, we last heard it singing on one side of the airfield, and then over an hour later refound it on the opposite side of the airfield, where it had moved undetected by all those searching. It was singing fairly frequently, and was very tough to actually lay eyes on, even when you knew exactly which thicket it was in. What a bird, and very happy to have been able to share it with several others! Second record for Algonquin Provincial Park.
