Individual 3
Observation details
The third individual photographed here (there was a fourth I did not photograph) stumped a friend of mine and I because some of the features looked to be intermediate with Herring Gull. Amar Ayaash noted: "If this was Asia, my mind would go straight to Vega, especially given the head markings on this individual. Of course it’s not one, and Thayer’s Gull does seem to make the most sense. If you zoom in you can make out some purplish-pink in the orbital ring, a good Thayer’s feature for a large gray-backed gull with darkish eyes."
