Observation details
Continuing young bird. When I arrived at Breeze Hill the bird was not in view. After a few minutes it flew in from the direction of the rink and perched in the tall cypress (?) tree at the SE corner of the bridge. It stayed there briefly then zeroed in on a Mourning Dove which it chased across the lullwater towards the peninsula, back over Breeze Hill and closing fast, it disappeared over the hillside towards the rink. I found it perched in an evergreen feeding on the kill. Massive accipiter. In flight the bird looked like a stovepipe with wings. Dark, teardrop shaped streaking across the chest continued through the belly and onto the legs and undertail coverts. Perched, the large body and small-headed feel stood out. The white supercilium was clearly visible though not as pronounced as other young birds I have seen.
