Observation details
When the sandpiper was found on the rocky support to the north break-wall leading to the Lighthouse, I was certain this would be a Purple Sandpiper. The dark backed, light belly with gray smudges on the breast, orangest feet and base of the long decurved bill were easily observed. A prominent eye-ring was also easily seen. Unfortunately, others were unable to locate the bird. A photo was taken by Sue Elliott using her cell phone, and is also submitted.
