Observation details
Continuing bird. Saw flying around and diving for food around the mouth of the creek at high tide. Brad Meilkejohn and I watched it for a while with binos and his scope. It appeared tiny— almost half the size of the Arctic Terns in the area, and with a “flippier” flight pattern. Strong backlighting from the setting sun made it difficult to make out colors on the bird, such as gray vs. white rump, but we did see it well when it landed and got an identifiable digiscoped photo. Shows dark lores, white forehead, and bicolored bill— yellow with black tip.
