Observation details
Possible hybrid male seen. Several years ago a full black-billed streamertail was seen at this location suggesting the boundary of the 2 species may not be too far. This possible hybrid had full length streamers suggesting it was fairly mature. My experience is that once they have full length tails their bills would be full red. This individual had about 30% of the bill from the tip full black and the black running along the edge of the rest of the bill towards the base. I worked with Dr. Gary Graves n the past who studied the hybridization of this species. I also inspected his dead specimens to give him permits to export them back to the Smithsonian Institute. This individual looks like one's he described as hybrid.
