Observation details
At first glance, the bird seems a Spur-winged Lapwing, but after analyzing it in detail we concluded it was an hybrid of Spur-winged x Red-wattled (Vanellus spinosus x indicus), given the following details: - First of all, the bird shows odd red lores in both eyes, recalling indicus. - Black in breast does not extend to the shoulders and in underparts does not reach the legs (as should in Spur-winged). - It does not show a clear cut between black and white parts, with greyish trasition in breast and cheeks. Specially in right shoulder, shows odd white spots. The pattern recalled a 'dirty' mix of spinosus and indicus plumages. - The bill shows subtle reddish coloration. - Legs brownish instead of pure black as in Spur-winged.
