Observation details
Continuing from last weekend, large black and white grebe, large pointed yellow bill, black cap extends past the red eye, eliminating Clark's; puffy cheeks, red eyes. Larger than most expected grebe species in SC Seen well at close range (about 100 yards from the Beach Rd path that meets the ocean. Associating with no other birds today, although a flock of black scoters were about 50 yards further out. Continued to stay about 100 to 150 yards off shore and working consistently north, diving every few seconds to feed Decent photos considering distance and glaring sun.
