Observation details
First saw one individual gliding south along the ridge, circling some - got a distant picture. Remiges lighter than underwing coverts - sort of pale gray. More or less dark overall; very large; slight wing dihedral; obvious golden nape. Got a picture of the second bird as well - saw it fly to the ridge from the west ca 10-15 minutes after I saw the first bird. It flew across the Spokane Creek valley, then south along the ridge like the first. I don't think there was any way the first bird could have reached the place where I first detected the second one without me spotting it. Later, saw a GOEA again, perched on the power pole structure uphill from the parking area - presumably one of the two birds I had seen before.
