Observation details
I was very surprised when I walked up to the two little ponds (where water pours into them before entering Fernhill Lake) and saw this Green Heron fly about 20 or 25 feet and land on a branch near Willows on the north side of the pond. I think this is the latest date I've ever seen this species in Oregon, as most of them should be in Mexico or Central America by this time. Obviously , there must be ample food in this small pond or the bird would have left before now.
