NOTES: LNS NOTE: Unbroken cut with internal recordist announcement/handling noise gain change (MJA,22Feb2005). (Species Sound: frequent; Breeding Status: not territorial, breeding; Special Song Type: pre-dawn; Sound Delivery Rate: high; General Climate: arid; Cover Density: medium; Filtering: yes - Nagra at 4) Copied at LNS onto AGFA PEM468, then edited by RSL. Announcement in field on tape should have said "Tree Swallow" instead of "Tree Sparrow" and should have said "the moon is about 5 degrees above the western horizon" instead of "the sun is ...." Although the bird could not be seen initially, after dawn I could see it flying and calling - and did find its nest in an aspen at the edge of the clearing. The female came out of the nest later in the morning. Frost had formed on the meadow during this recording!. Other Behaviors: Advertise, Perform Visual Display. Habitat: Forest, Grassland, Freshwater, Evergreen Forest, Coniferous Forest, Deciduous Forest, Meadow, Pasture, Second-growth, Grove.
