Observation details
Out of season; these birds typically are out of the Mojave Desert by October. Detected yesterday and found today as it gave “whit” calls. Since Gray and Least Flycatchers also give similar calls, I was interested in tracking it down. After finally finding it, I noted it’s long-tailed appearance. It had a weak eye-ring, lacked the “bigheadedness” of a Least, and pumped its tail upwards (as opposed to downward like a Gray). Photo documentation. (36.0438123, -115.0715360).
