NOTES: Breeding status: territorial Sound category: Bugle Recordist Note: All recordings on "cut"; This reel is made up of spliced segments of tape recorded from Sept 15, 1990 thru 29 Sept1990. It includes responses of several Bull elk to my blowing of an elk "bugle" call. Weather was mild and all recordings were made between 600 and 1200hr. These elk are wild, located in the Mill Creek watershed and an area closed to entry w/o permit. A specialhunting season is held in area each year. Most elk approached in response to the calls. Microphone poorly aimed in most of recordings. Part A 11:25 Part B 1:44 LNS: The recordist identified this as Cervus elaphus nelsoni. Sound stimulation was (other): Elk call "playback". Response to playback: Approach. Other Behaviors: Court, Social Context: Herd. Habitat: Forest, Coniferous Forest.
