Observation details
Awesome first record for Sandy Hook. Female that we spotted in the parking lot at lot M. A sharpie flushed the bird and as it flew off I thought it sounded like a Brewer's. Oliver had been looking at it and had the same impression. I fortunately it disappeared to the NW and I only got some lousy flight shots. We scoured the area, worried that it had gotten away. Finally I decided to recheck the original spot and there is was, one of the most cooperative vagrants I've ever seen. We spread the word and enjoyed killer views for a good half hour before checking the north end briefly and heading home. Glad we skipped the harrier stakeout and came here instead!
