Observation details
Continuing. Spent almost an hour combing through the Arboretum without success, before I finally heard the bird calling from a Hemlock near the SE corner. The bird spent the next 15 minutes very quietly foraging in and around the Camellias near the trellisway, as previously described. A long-awaited lifer! Male with very crisp black streaking on bright yellow underparts, orange auriculars on yellow face, very thin bill. Call a very sharp, high-pitched chip, very different from Yellow-rumped.
