Observation details
Rare this far south. This yearn a big push of black capped chickadee south has been happening in cuyahoga county and other counties around the great lakes and in the Midwest. The last two days of good north winds have pushed lots of new birds in and I suspect this bird may have moved in with everything else. I picked up on the Black capped vocalization. Visually white on the greater coverts and secondaries. Olive color in back, more colorful then Carolina. Lower bib line somewhat sloppy and clean. The bird responded immediately to black capped calls.and flew right in for better photos. Typically from my experience Carolina’s don’t come in to black capped calls. and continue doing what they are doing or actually fly away. I seeked a second opinion from two Ohio ebird reviewers, both agreed looks good for black cape so I’m submitting this as black capped chickadee.
