Observation details
Perched in a tree in front of house for 15 min then flew across to perch in another treetop for 5 mins then flew off and lost it. I’ve seen them before at the coast. Last report here by anyone (bar yesterday) was years ago (see Dr. Venero’s book). Had the sun in my eyes the whole time so could not make out coloration. Did see the ruffled nape feathers and noted a longish tail and wings when perched. At the time the wings didn’t seem that long in flight but could see they were paleish underneath. However, I got a much better view later( recorded under my Ebird garden list https://ebird.org/peru/checklist/S122289035) as it flew low pursued by two gulls 20 metres in front of me. The white belly and whiteish underwings, and white head very clear as were the long thin-looking wings
