Observation details
Continuing long staying bird originally found 10/22/22 by Mike Murphy. Was by the creek a little downstream from the outflow of the dam as reported by others in the area where the two trails/access roads make a T. Rough coordinates where it spent most of its time - 40.806715, -76.006995. Seen on and off from 11:20am-1pm. Thanks to all the others for posting coordinates and details about where to find it. Thanks to Rick for spotting the bird and Rick, Keith, and Ari for the good company! More details.. After searching for hours in the general area I was starting to feel pessimistic about finding it. Luckily Keith and Rick joined and Rick finally found it at about 11:20am and we got decent looks for 5-10min. Was not very active at this time. Stayed mostly low. There was a good frost this morning and it was pretty cold, probably upper 20s when I arrived. The sun took a while to rise over the mountain and hit this area. Maybe I didn’t find it because it was inactive with the cold or maybe I just missed it. After they left it reappeared around 12:00 and a few minutes later Ari showed up. It seemed to get more active during this time. We got good looks on and off for a few minutes at a time till close to 1pm. This small empid had a yellowish wash on the belly, indistinct olive vest, greenish back, slightly contrasting grayish head with slight crest, distinct white eye ring a little stronger at the back, whitish wing bars, a relatively long primary projection, small bill, and would flick its tail, and occasionally wings, upwards. Looks like there are three records in the PORC but only one was accepted, so this is the 2nd or 4th state record depending on how you look at it.
