Observation details
First documented new york county record, immature male closely associating with a flock of cowbirds. Vicens and I were biking south along the hudson river greenway when we stopped to look at a flock of around 80 cowbirds when a blackbird twice the size of the surrounding cowbirds with a bright yellow banana head and breast popped up… while scurrying for my camera the whole flock flew across the highway to the Riverbank SP, we ran up the steps and re-found the flock foraging on the east side of the running track in a 3-foot-wide section of absolute shit grass. The flock stayed there frantically foraging for ~20 minutes before all flying north. The bird gave a couple chuck calls but was otherwise silent. See photos.
