Observation details
1 on mangrove and 1 in pond ; counted around 100 cattle egret flying from mangrove towards the dump or Serangan island, mainly between 7.30 and 8.30, and around 100 coming back on the same track to mangrove later in the morning. 2 of the ones coming back were carrying material for nest in the direction of the mangrove. It must be noted that the local farmer reported that some hunters come sometimes there and kill some of these cattle egrets (a few times per year) , in spite of the fact this species is protected by indonesian law (as all other species of egrets and herons). The Suwung waste disposal centre was covered by a large flock of cattle egrets that could be seen flying sometimes and snapped from distance (see separate report).
