Observation details

I heard “jip jip jip” calls first, then found the crossbills feeding in a low and unlikely tree, some were feeding in the weeds next to a small creek. They took off shortly in a SE direction. Red and greenish-yellow songbirds with dark wings and distinctive crossed bills. Photos were gotten in challenging lighting.
