Observation details
One adult male, one juvenile (male?), four females and a dark-morph adult were seen. The first sighting occurred at 08:51 AM and the rest occurred between 10:20 and 10:50 AM. Views I had were with 10x binoculars and it was evident that we were looking at a minimum of five kites based on their appearance at the same time in the air. All birds clearly showed the paddle-shaped wings and hooked bill characteristic of HBKI. Ryan Rodriguez used his 25+ power scope to identify specific characteristics from which he determined that there were indeed seven individuals. I am including several photos I got for some of the birds sighted in the 10:20-10:50 time frame. Hopefully photos taken from others will reveal some of the others.
