Observation details
Green parrot with full yellow head and pale beak. Yellow completely covers crown, face, nape and neck. Observed from the top floor of the parking garage at Boyd Way and Sixth Street. First appearance of parrots with yellow on their head was observed by Sue at 6:40 pm when two flew directly overhead. These flew to the southwest along Sixth Street and landed in the bare branches above the foliage at the corner of Sixth Street and Shelton Street. (Looks like the same bare branches where Tom Fangrow got his photos on October 4). Five parrots with yellow on their heads were observed with binoculars and a telescope in these bare branches: three had partial yellow heads, and two had full yellow heads that completely covered their face, crown, nape and neck. It was observed that these parrots kept to themselves and did not comingle with the other species. These parrots flew off at about 6:50 pm. At about 6:55 pm, Calvin observed one yellow-headed parrot with a pale beak roosting next to a parrot with a partial yellow head in one of the trees along the west side of the parking garage, about 25 feet from the side of the garage. Sue, Steve Neely, and Dave and Paula Telles joined Calvin at the roost and took photos.
