NOTES: Purpose of sound: calling from a night perch; Behavior accompanying vocalization: perched about 50ft. up in a dead spruce; When not vocalizing, the bird was preening; The screech was used after playback of birds own call. BNA: Advertising Call (ulululululululul) is heard. Alarm Call or Screeching Call (the 2-part screech: screeeeee-yip) is also possibly heard between 34-38 seconds. CZ 04/05/2004.
