Observation details
I relocated the individual found by Pema and photographed by Josh on 15 Oct, two days ago. As I was walking the dirt road eastward down Birchim Canyon, about 100 m east of the confluence, I heard a sweet warbler call note coming from the riparian to my right. I walked down the little path now marked by a little pile of sticks and located where the localization was coming from - it was a Prothonotary Warbler which has just bathed, preening on a branch on the other side of the creek. I got peekaboo views for a few minutes until it flushed down to the water's edge hopping among the sticks and other vegetation. I was looking into the sun so the photos are glary, but the binocular views were outstanding from only about 25 feet away. Judging by the amount of olive-green on the crown and back, this is probably a female, perhaps even a first-year female.
