Observation details
Found by K Sherwood in road in evening.Presumed storm-wrecked juvenile found far inland following Hurricane Fiona which moved through the Maritime provinces in Canada. Aroostook county, Maine experienced two days of high winds from this. Photos. Midsized alcid with dark face, cap, nape,back, wings and tail. white breast, belly and undertail. Cheeks and post-ocular areas light gray. Eyes dark Webbed feet dark flesh colored. Bill dark gray, daggerlike with no multicolored sheathes. Bird appeared exhausted and depleted but with no obvious injuries. Appears to be the first county record for Aroostook. Nearest salt water over 130 miles to north or east.. Transported to Avian Haven rehab. addendum bird expired prior to reaching rehab.
