Observation details
Excellent views of at least six displaying males at lek site located on steep hillside in short secondary forest along rushing creek. Birds spent most time from 4 - 20 meters high. Entire lek seemed to be about 100 meters by 30 meters with birds usually concentrated in smaller area and then moving from one side to the other. At times birds would also go quite high in trees, to with 5 meters of the canopy. When high, they usually displayed only once or twice before one would chase another, usually then tumbling toward the forest floor. Loud raucous calls, given when perched and descending introductory note also given in flight. Calls most frequently given when males close to each other. When displaying wings held over back and rapidly moved over each other in a manner vaguely suggestive of videos I've seen of Club-winged Manakins.
