Observation details
Continuing absolutely gorgeous doe-eyed shorebird found by M. Butler and M. Rotella. Long awaited county bird, personally. Bob and I were the first to arrive this morning and we walked the grasses on the west shore of the lagoon to no avail. At one point I decided to head into the dunes, and at the exact spot I started to walk in, after having taken not five steps, the bird flushed and flew NW. I would have never seen it, but lucked out at just the right spot. We then walked a bit back NW and found it standing still in the short grasses closer to the NW corner of the main lagoon. Eventually it began to forage and as we sat and watched, it would make its way relatively close to us. After others showed up, the BBSA flushed and we got to see it in flight before it settled back down on the west side of the lagoon.
