Observation details
heard calling once and suspected Ted this species; then had quick response to a series of calls I played with a response of about 15 calls. It came close for photos and I was able to start recording and capture at least one call to confirm the ID. Unlike Arctic calls, which have 2-3 common variations, all calls from Kamchatka Leaf that I’ve heard have been identical. Visually this bird looked identical but the brown was perhaps slightly browner, with no obvious green tones to the crown. Gratifying to finally have a good experience with the species. My first was mostly heard, seem briefly breast-on, and not audio recorded. My second was heard well, not seen, and the audio recording failed to pick it up. All three have been in the same part of the park: North side around Military Lot where there are alders.
