Observation details
After a couple nights of effort searching for Inland Dotterels earlier this week, I saw a report by Liam Manderson of four birds on the entrance road into Ned's Corner. I decided to return to search for these birds and this morning unfortunately found three dead inland dotterels (an adult and two chicks) which are almost certainly three of the same birds as reported by Liam. The fourth individual was nowhere to be seen. Tonight I spent a few hours searching the main road and the habitat near the dead birds with no success. Only once I started searching the larger clay pans did I manage to get onto one adult and a young chick. Certainly makes up for the disappointment of this morning - such a cool bird and my 379th Vic bird this year. Unmistakeable birds with that striking face pattern!
