Observation details
First NJ record! Immature found earlier by Tom Johnson and George Armistead in yards at the dead-end of Delaware Ave and then refound by Jim Dowdell in the dunes halfway down to the Fishing Creek outflow, which is where I first saw it. Foraging low in brush and on the ground, slowly moving northward through the dune scrub. Seemed to prefer the cedars. Calling often. Tail-wagging constantly. Larger, thick-bodied warbler with white eye arcs, brownish-gray topsides and pale yellow undersides. Thin black streaking throughout. White undertail coverts. Photos, and audio of call.
