Media notes
Wild caught Habronattus aztecanus male performing a "typical" courtship display in response to a female model. Substrate-borne vibratory song recorded using a laser Doppler vibrometer on a nylon surface. H. aztecanus is a member of the clypeatus species group and is characterized as a "stilting" species. Stilting species have elaborate third leg ornamentation and perform courtship displays emphasizing those ornaments. Locality information represents the field collection site, not the captive recording site (which was a lab at University of California, Berkeley). Date represents the date of the recording. Capture date: March 2014. Collector: Wayne Maddison. Specimen code: WPM#14-048 - 1. Recording substrate: Nylon.
