Observation details
Hanging out with some Townsend's Warblers in a mixed flock along the creek. I first noticed that the face looked different than the TOWAs around it and then saw the pattern on the back that made it stick out from the rest. Grayish crown, grayish cheek patch, pale yellow stripe above eye, pale yellow below eye, and clean, pale lemon yellow throat that gradually faded into the white below. White belly and undertail. Delicate looking blackish streaks along the side, but streaking on sides did not encroach into the throat like it did on some on the Townsend's (making a partial necklace appearance). Tail feathers looked entirely white most times from below. The wings were darkish with two bold, bright white wingbars. The most notable feature was the back pattern. The entire back was boldly striped with alternating blackish and grayish bands. However, running along each side of the back were obvious pale yellow stripes, one on each side. Overall her color and pattern seemed paler, cleaner, and daintier than the Townsend's she foraged with.
