Observation details
Medium sandpiper although this bird was quite plump in preparation for its migratory flight. Light eye ring, black bill slightly decurved, black eye. Scaly pattern on back with a generous amount of black/chocolate. Thin black streaking in crown, nape and mantle and lightly spotted sides. Buff colored body and head overall with white vent. Subtle yellow legs from a distance. Picked food on mud/land surface. Black tipped primaries. Walked with good stride. Identified by Craig Provost and Jim Mead. Bird liked the far out mudflat by the bits of vegetation and three small “sand castles”.
