Observation details
(Rare): “infrequent”: ho, not entirely sure but definitely could be, we recorded a bird calling “qwuk!” repeatedly. Almost bark like. Picked out by Caleb as night-heron candidate. Caleb does think it is a night-heron, which is why had us record it. Sounded sort of duck/goose like to Courtney, but then definitely became more heron like. On recording you can hear it starting off more goose like, but then becoming more heron grunt like. You can see the calls at :04, :08, :21, :36. Note: the graph uploaded into ebird has lost some of its resolution that was visible when recorded in Merlin … Caleb will therefore try to normalize our recordings but won’t be able to for a while. When we compared sonograms from the Merlin app, night-heron matched what did show up of our recorded image, but also there’s a July 1961 Washington recording of GBH that matches similarly too.
