Observation details
Thought this was my first for the yard, but it’s actually my second! Misidentified another thrush a week ago that was actually a veery as well. This one today was hanging out with the wood thrushes. Quiet, very inactive thrush that was nonetheless very curious. After sighting it, approaching it, and then losing it again, I walked away only to find that it had followed me to watch me from behind my back. Very comfortable with me. Great experience with a bird that’s only ever been a fleeting sighting before, and one that I wish hadn’t been cut short by having to be into work an hour early on Sundays (although the start of the rain coincided nicely with my cutoff time today).
