Observation details
Continuing rarity for this area. Found on some dead twigs of the tallest oak tree, deep in the shade. This tree is to the east of the statue in the sunken flower beds by where the road curves back north and dead ends. Just south of St. Mary's Hospital. The bird stayed in that general area the entire time I was there. This bird appears to be immature. My photos aren't great, but they may be useful enough to confirm the sighting. Very small hummingbird with a hunched posture, iridescent green back, buffy sides, white tips on the underside of the tail. Dark green, maybe brown wings. The dark bill appears shorter than other hummingbirds in relation to its overall size. White neck with darker speckles, white belly.
