Media notes
crisp juvenile bird, foraging along waters edge with a Lesser Yellowlegs. Much more active and frenetic than most of the regular species. Digiscope video, not the quality generally reserved for eBird uploads, but I figured the rarity of the species in TN warrants video documentation.
Observation details
Continuing first Humphreys County record first found by Alan Troyer four days ago. Beautiful juvenile similar in size to several nearby Stilt Sandpipers but slightly shorter black legs, more evenly curved curlew bill. Colors were also different from Stilt with a nice scaly back pattern, bright white belly and a peachy color across the face and upper breast. In flight it had a very distinctive white rump contrasting with a black tail along with a distinct stripe visible in the upper wing and extensive white in the underwing. Hundreds of photos taken by all, will be attached.
