AHY (formative or definitive basic plumage); does not appear to have yet started pre-basic molt (all rectrices and remiges, wing coverts, scapulars very worn)
Observation details
continuing. Found by Tim Stevenson 28 Aug. AHY bird (in formative or definitive basic plumage) which does not appear to have started pre-basic molt (primaries and secondaries, wing coverts, scapulars and back feathers very worn, while tail feathers are extremely worn - see photos). Curiously, WEME is reported to undergo pre-basic molt "on or near breeding grounds". Photos illustrate yellow throat extending up into submalar feathers; outer 2 (R5 & R6) tail feathers white, with R4 partially white; brownish lateral crown stripes; rather discrete thin dark bars on inner tail feathers (R1-R3).
