Observation details

Small gull with dark red legs and bill (not the orange leg colour and black bill associated with BOGU). The head markings were streaked and appeared to travel over the crown of the head - better defined than a non-breeding or juvenile Bonaparte's Gull. Better viewed through our scope, photos not as clear.
