Observation details
Continuing in same location as previously reported, halfway in cove between shelters 10 and 11, on the shelter 11 side of the cove. Smaller than a Great Blue Heron. Dark Brown overall with variable white spots. Actively preening and feeding. Appears healthy. If you are chasing, a boat or kayak would be much easier. I hiked roughly 100 yards through vegetation as tall as my chest just to get looks through a scope. If you do choose to hike, absolutely wear wader boots due to wet conditions. There’s a small car pull off area on beach road near this cove. I used that as my trailhead. (38.9695989, -94.3401186)
