NOTES: BEHAVIOR CONTEXT: ?alarm BREEDING STATUS: not territorial NOTES ON DATA FORM: This is one of the more difficult calls for me to record. Normally it is given once or twice in response to a taped playback; then bird transfers to one of the more common calls. This call is very similar to call saw-whet will give in response to played screech owl call. However, normally saw-whet will thive this call once or twice and then stop calling. Screech normally keeps going w/ another call. ML Notes: I am not sure about this, but this call may be the "Chuckle-Up" call that is described in the BNA, a call that is given in response to playback. CZ 05/01/2004. Response to playback: Approach. Habitat: Deciduous Forest, River, Riparian, Thicket/Brush, Second-growth.
