Observation details
Smaller than Mockingbird-sized gray bird, with very distinctive white eye-ring, smallish bill. I could not see any buff-collored wing "patch" - the bird was mostly seen inside dense juniper tree branches. The Bird had been reported in this location, but we did not immediately see it when we got there. About 5 minutes later, the bird flew in from the open field behind us, landed on the bare-leaveless tree next to house 1625, and promptly dove into the junipers to the west, bordering house 1525. We could catch glimpses until it again flew out, this time back to the open field behind us. It's flying style was most unusual - erratic and almost like a crow in the wind (there was very little wind) The bird returned 15 minutes later, this time directly to the juniper trees, where we had a difficult time seeing it clearly. We finally lost daylight and left.
